Jerry Fairlie – Soulman
Love to hear from you…
“If you have to ask what jazz is, you’ll never know.”
I was 9 years old when I started playing with a “hand-me-down” metal clarinet. My sister Lucile remembers the squeaks and squawks of me learning to make music out of Jean’s old clarinet.
“We’re so happy you are realizing your dream. ~Lucile”
Irma Schuster, first music teacher — thank you for not giving up on me when I didn’t practice. You instilled the joy of music in me.
My dad was a wonderful tenor who got me involved in the church choir. I sang in the choir through high school, but my love was playing saxophone. “I never lost that desire to play music.”
Duane Cunning, High School Band Director — a quiet man who led by encouraging all of us to be better. Thanks Duane!
